While we have thus far examined the way professional
wrestling parallels the morality play, allegory and Noh
Drama
in establishing its thematic design and its
staging, it is the parallel between wrestling and the Greek
and Roman theatre that provides the basic techniques of staging of the sport.
The parallel is substantial and in large part explained
because of the similarity of problems of a vast audience and
large distances between audience and stage that professional
wrestling and
Greek and Roman drama share. |
